Asia-Pacific stocks mostly increased Friday, Jan. 13, with shares in Hong Kong climbing for the third session.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index HK:HSI added 1.0% to 21,738.66, while Japan’s Nikkei 225 Index JP:NIK dropped 1.2% to 26,119.52.
China’s Shanghai Composite Index CN:SHCOMP increased 1.0% to 3,195.31, and Singapore’s FTSE Straits Times Index SG:STI gained 0.8% to 3,293.75. South Korea’s KOSPI Composite Index KR:180721 increased 0.9% to 2,386.09, while Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 Benchmark Index AU:XJO rose 0.7% to 7,328.10.
Among the Hang Seng Index constituents, biotechnology company Wuxi Biologics (Cayman) HK:2269 saw the largest increase Friday, as shares increased 6.4%.
Shares of jewelry stores firm Chow Tai Fook Jewellery HK:1929 and online service providers company Netease HK:9999 added 4.8% and 4.7%, respectively.
Shares of renewable energy equipment company Xinyi Solar Holdings HK:968 saw the largest decrease in Hong Kong, as shares declined 4.4% on Friday.
Shares of computers/consumer electronics firm Lenovo Group HK:992 and optical instruments company Sunny Optical Technology HK:2382 weakened 2.0% and 1.3%, respectively.
Among Nikkei 225 Index constituents, mixed retailing company Seven & I Holdings JP:3382 saw the largest increase Friday, as shares rose 6.1%.
Shares of commercial banking firm Concordia Financial Group JP:7186 and commercial banking company Shizuoka Financial Group JP:5831 increased 6.0% and 5.5%, respectively.
Also in Japan, clothing stores company Fast Retailing JP:9983 saw the largest drop Friday, as shares declined 8.0%
Shares of glass/glass products firm Nippon Sheet Glass JP:5202 and passenger cars company Mazda Motor JP:7261 fell 5.0% and 4.5%, respectively.
